Some Valentine's Day Food Porn

I apologize for not having posted for so long--I don't have the excuse of not having teh internets at home, I simply haven't been cooking much lately. Well, I have been cooking, but I haven't made much that's original. I figured that this blog could do without another "omg 101 cookbooks is sooooo good!" post.

My latest cooking adventure was to make a veritable feast with Michael for Valentine's Day. For our first course, we had mom's tasty squash soup with fresh whole grain bread.

For our main course, we had the Barefoot Contessa's spinach pie with her Asian grilled salmon.

For dessert, la piece de resistance, we made chocolate souffle with grand marnier-flavored chocolate sauce. It was to die for! Thankfully, there were leftovers: Michael liked his reheated, but I had mine cold with hot chocolate sauce on top. I liked it better that way than fresh!

Gorgeous!! Not as good as being there, but breathtaking nonetheless. Can I send Maria the photo of the chocolate sauce?
Love,
Mom

Wow! You made such a feast!
I feel like a slacker because I made Oliver take me out for dinner on Valentine's day. We went out to Luna Park, a restaurant in the mission we went to on our first date and we hadn't been back since then. It was fun to relive our youth :)

. . .. I don't remember what I cooked for Reeves. . . . but it was probably better than re-living the cooking of our youth. Or the rare restaurants (the Dixie Pig comes to mind), other than Chez Francois, which, I'm sure I've told you a million times, we would go to with our $6 supper money from the firms which they gave us when we billed 2 hours after 6 p.m. And $6 bought the duck a l'orange entree. If we splurged and spent $2 more, we could get the plum pie.

Of course you can send Maria the picture! Do you need a better copy?

And Jo, that sounds totally sweet!
